Job Summary
Host Families provide care in their own homes to individuals with intellectual, physical, and/or developmental disabilities, helping them participate in everyday family and community life. The placement functions like foster care, with an emphasis on teaching daily living skills, accompanying individuals to medical appointments and community activities, and promoting safety and well-being. The role requires strong communication and behavioral de-escalation abilities, acting as a caring, patient, and proactive role model and teacher. Compensation includes around $2,000+ per month with training provided at no cost; position is contract or full-time with flexible scheduling and in-person work at the host family home. Training and support are offered by North Eastern Services.
Required Qualifications
- Host Families are independent contractors who provide care in their own homes to the
- people they support. Depending on the individual's needs, families will teach and assist
- individuals with daily living skills such as medical appointments, personal hygiene,
- community activities, safety skills, shopping, meal planning/preparation, and more. Strong
- communication and behavioral de-escalation skills are necessary for a successful
- placement.
- A successful Host Home placement acts as a role model and teacher. Providers must be
- caring, honest, patient, and self-driven. Excellent listening and communication skills
- advocate for and encourage individuals to continually improve.
- Host Families providing a loving placement will be compensated $2000 per month or more.
- North Eastern Services offers all required training at no expense.
