Job Summary
Greet arriving customers, escort them to assigned tables, and issue menus while accommodating special requests. Remain at the cashier station to receive payments, process transactions on the cash register, and count back change aloud. Verify charge vouchers for accuracy, confirm pricing and discounts, and distribute checks to servers while maintaining a shift log. Balance computerized and manual reports, reconcile daily revenues, and alert management to discrepancies. Assist with cleaning duties, check table setups, and report maintenance issues to management.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience of 3 months in a position with heavy cash handling responsibilities and customer service exposure
- Must have high school graduate level mathematical aptitude
- Must have general knowledge of basic customer service skills, restaurant operations, and food service principles
- Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing in English
- Must be able to follow written and verbal instruction
- Must be able to work on more than one task at a time
- Must be able to use tact and understanding when dealing with a variety of customer service problems, including stressful and highly emotional situations
- Must be able to handle coins and writing utensils
- Must be able to grasp handles
- Must be able to push buttons
- Must be able to carry dishes
- Must be able to lift and carry trays and bus tubs weighing up to 10lbs
- Must be able to stand throughout entire shift
- Must be able to lift arms above head to retrieve objects from shelves
- Must have vision ability to read written communiques, computer screens and print-outs
- Must have vision ability to see colors
- Must have vision ability to survey entire room in dimly lit conditions
