Job Summary
Greet guests in person or by phone to schedule reservations and coordinate the flow of visitors at the front of the restaurant. Check the reservation list, anticipate peak times, and assist managers in assigning parties to tables or servers. Escort guests to assigned tables, deliver menus, and handle coat check services while maintaining a clean and orderly host station. Complete opening, side, and closing duties, answer calls professionally, and communicate guest requests or complaints to managers. May be scheduled for banquets, special events, or meetings.
Required Qualifications
- Meet state age requirement for the position
- Must be able to read and communicate in English clearly and effectively
- Must have professional communication and social skills appropriate for guests
- Must be self motivated and able to work calmly and effectively under pressure
- Strong team-work orientation, well organized, able to take direction from others
- Basic math and computer skills required
- Able to work a flexible, part-time schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Lunch-time serving hours may be required for certain seasons, holidays, or special events
- Work days and hours vary in accordance with business need
- Able to stand for 4 or more hours at a time
- Able to lift and carry 15 pounds on a regular basis
Desired Qualifications
