Job Summary
Set up equipment and supplies for food preparation, then prepare meals and snacks according to production sheets, recipes, and menu documents. Provide prescribed diets at appropriate temperatures in portion-controlled quantities while monitoring food supply quality and recommending corrective action to the team leader. Assume responsibility for departmental operations, including menu changes and purchasing supplies from authorized suppliers, when the team leader is absent. Assist in the orientation and training of new team members and perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Grade 12 minimum education
- Valid Safe Food Handling Certificate
- Smart Serve certificate
- Experience with cooking in institutional, health care, restaurant, or hospitality
- Positive attitude necessary to meet the goals and standards of the residence
- Successful completion of the prescribed Vulnerable Sector Check
- Successful completion of the prescribed Criminal Records Check
Desired Qualifications
- Graduate of a recognized college food preparation program
- Willingness to Red Seal certify
