Job Summary
Hospitality Assistant responsible for preparing a variety of dishes per established menus and recipes, maintaining sanitation and quality in a high-volume kitchen, and performing one or more specialized roles (Cashier, Dishwasher, Cold Prep, Bakeshop Prep, Restaurant Server, Banquet Server, Barista, Cohen House Steward) as needed. Must be available to work weekends and holidays; on-campus, on-site position at Rice University in Houston, TX. Requires teamwork, at least 0-1 year culinary experience, and a valid food-handler certification (ServSafe) with HACCP compliance. Wage range: $18.00-$21.57 hourly; overtime eligibility.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma
- 0–1 year of related culinary experience
- Certified Food Handler's Permit (Houston) or equivalent (ServSafe)
- HACCP Compliance
- Communication: Basic English
- Collaboration: Team-oriented
- Technical Literacy: Read and understand standard recipes/production sheets
- Sensory Awareness: Detect scents and discern flavors
- Physical Endurance: Stand/walk up to 8 hours
- Mobility: Bend, crouch, kneel, lift, reach, climb, balance
