Job Summary
Responsible for assisting residents with activities of daily living to promote resident independence and dignity. Follow resident assignment schedule as made out by charge nurse or Unit Manager; assist with mobility (e.g., walking with ambulatory residents or pushing a wheelchair), care tasks (including personal hygiene and laundry-related duties), observe residents and report any unusual conditions, and respond to call lights promptly. Must lift up to 50 pounds with or without accommodations, maintain safety protocols, and participate in drills and ongoing training. Requires ability to understand and follow verbal/written instructions in English and communicate clearly with residents; high school diploma or GED and current status on Texas Nursing Assistant/Nurse Aide registries are required. The role includes duties such as assisting with activities, ensuring resident comfort, maintaining cleanliness of equipment, and supporting residents during daily activities, with a schedule that may include weekends, evenings, and holidays.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Must be in good standing on the Nursing Assistant Registry in the state of Texas and the Nurse Aide Misconduct Registry
- Ability to understand, remember and carry out verbal and written instructions in English
- Ability to speak clearly and hear well enough to communicate with residents
- Must be capable of performing the Essential Functions of this job, with or without reasonable accommodation
