Job Summary

Facilitate patient tracking and billing by obtaining and verifying accurate demographic information, securing financial responsibility from guarantors, and maximizing hospital reimbursement. Answer telephone inquiries professionally, record messages, and communicate with medical staff while ensuring proper patient identification and triage. Obtain signatures on required forms, verify insurance benefits and authorizations, and enter complete account data into the patient accounting system. Scan clinical documentation, maintain medical records, and coordinate patient transfers. Pursue collections at the time of service, maintain cash drawers, and manage logs for patients, payments, and admissions. Keep the front desk and waiting areas clean, receive deliveries, and notify staff of equipment malfunctions.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2 years of patient registration and insurance verification experience in a health care setting
  • Knowledge of various insurance plans (HMO, PPO, POS, Medicare, Medicaid) and payors
  • Basic understanding of medical terminology
  • Position requires fluency in English; written and oral communication
  • Fluency in both English & Spanish
  • Pennsylvania Candidates: Act 33 (Child Abuse History Clearance), & Act 73 (FBI Fingerprint Criminal History Clearance) completed within the last 5 years, or must be obtained prior to start date

Desired Qualifications

  • Emergency Department registration experience
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (MS Word, Excel and Outlook)
