Job Summary
Prepare laboratory specimens for analysis, communicate with client office staff, and research or troubleshoot specimen problems. Accurately identify and label samples, pack and ship them to testing facilities, and scrub requisitions to update missing items. Enter patient information in an accurate and timely manner while meeting department activity and production goals. Perform spinning, freezing, or splitting services as needed based on client requirements. Work onsite at East Jefferson Hospital in Metairie, LA, Monday through Friday from 5:00pm to 1:30am with rotating Saturdays.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED or equivalent
- 1 year or more experience in laboratory or accessioning or data entry or manufacturing
- Comfortable handling biological specimens
- Ability to accurately identify specimens
- Experience working in a team environment
- Strong data entry and organizational skills
- High level of attention to detail
- Proficient in MS Office
- Able to lift up to 40lbs
- Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
- Monday – Friday 5:00pm – 1:30am, and rotating Saturdays
Desired Qualifications
- 3 or more years of medical or patient facing healthcare experience
