Job Summary
Remote Hospital Outpatient Coding Educator role responsible for developing training content and materials, conducting outpatient coding training, standardizing training practices, and ensuring consistent coding outcomes. Leads training sessions, assesses coder comprehension, and makes recommendations for resource development and policy/procedure improvements. Coordinates with Coding Auditors to prepare education material based on audit results; develops and maintains an orientation program for coders; acts as a nosologist translating disease and procedure classifications; maintains expert knowledge of Franciscan Alliance coding software tools; supports software workflow standardization and tests software updates. Requires 5 years of Franciscan outpatient coding experience with CCS/CCS-P/CPC or RHIT/RHIA equivalents; supervisory/trainer experience preferred. Travel is Never or Rarely required. This is a fully remote position based in Indiana, with work-from-home arrangements.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED With 5 years of Franciscan coding experience - Required or Associate's Degree - Required
- Bachelor's Degree - Preferred
- 5 Years Franciscan outpatient coding with CCS, CCS-P, CPC - Required or 5 Years Outpatient Coding Experience with RHIT/RHIA - Required
- 3 Years Coding Manager or Trainer/Auditor - Preferred
- CCS, Certified Coding Specialist from AHIMA - Required or CPC, Certified Professional Coder from AAPC - Required or CCS-P, Certified Coding Specialist - Physician from AHIMA - Required
- RHIT, RHIA - Preferred or RHIA - Preferred
- Proficient in Excel, Word and PowerPoint - Required
