Job Summary
Direct patient care, evaluate outcomes, and adjust nursing processes to ensure optimal care for neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations. Monitor medical conditions, report changes, and assist physicians with examinations and emergency trauma procedures. Develop comprehensive nursing care plans, organize flexible priorities for emergencies, and implement health teaching based on patient learning needs. Ensure adequate supply stock, proper equipment function, and daily compliance with policies and regulations. Maintain accurate, confidential medical records adhering to HIPAA guidelines and serve on hospital committees for quality improvement studies.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of a state accredited school of nursing
- Current Iowa license
- ACLS, and PALS certified or completion within five (5) years of hire
- Satisfactorily qualifies for the position through an Iowa Criminal History/Dependent Adult Abuse check within the limits of applicable laws
- Must have knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care for patients in this age range, able to assess data and interpret appropriate information relating to their age-specific needs
- Demonstrates proficiency in performance standards and skills required of a team leader
- Proper use of safe patient handling devices/equipment is required by all employees involved in lifting/transferring patients who need assistance
- Promotes good intra and inter hospital communications and relationships at all times
