Job Summary
Conduct timely inspections, preventive maintenance, and minor repairs on medical equipment while maintaining accurate documentation and inventory records. Perform equipment calibrations, manage software upgrades, and resolve service discrepancies with clinical staff. Deliver prompt, courteous service and provide training on testing and inspection procedures. Maintain a clean, safe work environment and ensure compliance with patient privacy laws and regulatory policies. Work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree in an Applied Science (electronics or biomedical equipment technology)
- Equivalent military training
- Healthcare industry experience
- Medical equipment experience
- Customer excellence experience
- Demonstrated competency verification on various equipment preventive maintenance and repair practices
- Knowledge of the set-up and application of test equipment (electrical safety analyzer, etc)
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office programs (Word and Excel)
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays, as well as emergency off-hours as required
- Ability to lift and/or push 75 pounds
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
- Quality orientation with a 'get it right the first time' attitude
- Ability to dialogue with clinical staff on the topics of equipment features, functionality, etc
- Effective conflict resolution skills
- Ability to ensure prompt and courteous service is delivered to all customers in person and in all communications
- In-depth knowledge of medical equipment; knows equipment by name, appearance and accessory list
- Ability to manage missing and lost equipment, software upgrades and accessories
- Ability to conduct training for staff on testing and inspecting medical equipment
- Ability to discuss equipment features and functionality with hospital staff
- Ability to deliver a quality product by meeting quality indicator standards and achieve productivity objectives by planning and completing day-to-day work accordingly
- Ability to maintain accurate and adequate equipment inventory
- Ability to ensure appropriate documentation of equipment the customer reports as non-functional
- Ability to document all equipment incidents in compliance with both company and customer policies
- Ability to complete all documentation, paperwork and computer data entry accurately and in a timely manner to ensure accurate documentation and regulatory compliance
- Sound and timely decision-making skills
