Job Summary
Evaluate potential organ donor referrals and assess medical suitability using clinical records and physical examinations. Collaborate with physicians and hospital staff to manage referrals from initial contact through declaration of death or DCD evaluation. Identify legal next-of-kin, conduct Uniform Donor Risk Assessment Interviews, and coordinate clearance with Medical Examiners and legal authorities. Develop strategic plans to maximize medical management and expand hospital partnerships for organ donation. Document all donor activities in confidential records and participate in interdisciplinary quality meetings. Maintain effective relationships with hospital administrators and conduct regular site visits to promote donor programs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in health care or related field of study
- Healthcare professional with three to five years of experience in the medical field
- Ability to utilize teamwork, technical, analytical, problem solving, organizational and communications skills and be able to function effectively with minimum supervision
- Must be able to function in environments of high emotional stress, due to the nature of the functions and interactions required
- Valid driver's license and proof of insurability for automobile insurance
- Ability to lift at least 50lbs
