Job Summary
Conduct hospital consultations, outpatient follow-ups, and first assist in the operating room as needed for the Neurosurgery service line. Provide remote administrative assistance to PAs working in the clinic and manage patient care across inpatient units, including critical care and trauma. Work Monday through Friday with an optional call rotation, supporting a team of five surgeons and five APPs at Sarasota Memorial Hospital – Venice. This role prepares for service line growth ahead of the third hospital opening in North Port in Fall 2028.
Required Qualifications
- Current NCCPA Certification
- Active or eligible for licensure by the State of Florida
- BLS and ACLS certification
- Bachelor degree from accredited physician assistant training program
- Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
- Background screening through The Florida Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse
Desired Qualifications
- Neurology experience with surgery
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Demonstrated written & verbal communication & strong analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and effectively with physicians and other allied health personnel in the hospital and/or office setting
- Demonstrated clinical competency skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of pharmacology as it relates to health care practice and current prescription writing skills/DEA licensing
- Demonstrated skills in documentation in medical records to substantiate accurate billing
- Effective interaction skills to ensure the successful care of patients in the clinical setting
- Effective leadership and strong interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of relevant state and federal laws, statutes and regulations
- Knowledge of state, federal and local health care agencies and programs
- Masters Degree
