Job Summary
Offer friendly visits and conversation to provide companionship, read aloud, share stories, or engage in activities like music, crafts, or games. Provide walking companionship when safe, sit at the bedside for a calm presence, and offer short breaks for caregivers by staying with their loved ones. Sit vigil during final stages of life, support legacy projects such as letters or recordings, and conduct therapy visits if certified. Licensed providers may offer haircuts. Assist with office tasks or provide virtual support via calls and check-ins. Commit to completing required onboarding and training. Submit volunteer hours timely and maintain reliable communication with the Volunteer Coordinator. This role serves clients across Rutland and surrounding counties, supporting individuals navigating end-of-life with compassion and reliability.
Required Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to build a consistent, ongoing connection with a patient over time
- Reliable and responsive communication with the Volunteer Coordinator, primarily via email
- Willingness to complete administrative requirements, including timely submission of volunteer hours
- Comfort interacting with people from diverse backgrounds and experiences
- Openness to supporting individuals and families navigating the end-of-life
- Commitment to completing required onboarding and training
- Must be therapy dog-certified (for pet therapy visits)
- Must be a licensed provider (for haircuts)
