Job Summary
Volunteer to provide companionship and support for BAYADA Hospice patients and families in Barre and Colchester, VT. Responsibilities include friendly visits, reading aloud, sharing stories, engaging in activities (music, crafts, TV, puzzles, games), walking companionship when safe, bedside presence, providing respite for caregivers, vigil during final stages of life, supporting legacy or memory projects, and optional pet therapy visits (therapy dog-certified). May assist with office tasks or virtual support; volunteers must complete onboarding and training and maintain communication with the Volunteer Coordinator via email. This is an unpaid, in-person (volunteer) role with BAYADA Home Health Care in Vermont.
Required Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to build a consistent, ongoing connection with a patient over time
- Reliable and responsive communication with the Volunteer Coordinator
- Willingness to complete administrative requirements, including timely submission of volunteer hours
- Comfort interacting with people from diverse backgrounds and experiences
- Openness to supporting individuals and families navigating the end-of-life
- Commitment to completing required onboarding and training
