Hospice Volunteer

Hospice Volunteer role at BAYADA Hospice: volunteers assist BAYADA staff with families who have a loved one in hospice care and can choose from multiple ways to contribute. Responsibilities include offering friendly visits, reading aloud, engaging in activities (music, crafts, TV, puzzles, games), providing walking companionship, sitting bedside with a calm presence, offering short breaks for caregivers, sitting vigil during end-of-life, supporting legacy or memory projects, and optional pet therapy or haircuts (where licensed). Volunteers may also assist with office tasks or provide virtual support. Requires strong interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to maintain ongoing connections with patients, reliable communication with the Volunteer Coordinator, ability to complete onboarding and training, and openness to supporting individuals and families navigating end-of-life. Location is in Norwich, VT and surrounding Windsor/Orange counties in Vermont and Grafton/Sullivan counties in New Hampshire; on-site volunteering at patient homes or in offices is expected.
