Job Summary
Provide spiritual assessment, counseling, and support to patients, families, and caregivers in their place of residence. Coordinate the spiritual care component of the hospice service, participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, and facilitate linkage to community clergy as desired. Perform memorial and funeral services for clients and contracted facilities as requested. Maintain records of spiritual care services for quality assurance, participate in policy development, and supervise volunteer chaplains. Take on-call responsibilities including weekends, holidays, and evenings as necessary. Provide consultation, orientation, and education to the interdisciplinary team while demonstrating knowledge of diverse religious and cultural values.
Required Qualifications
- Current BLS or obtain BLS within 30 days of employment
- Masters Degree
- Ordination or commission by a recognized faith group
- at least one unit of clinical pastoral education from a nationally recognized provider
- Experience in pastoral counseling
- Experience with death and dying with individuals and families
- Must be able to lift 30 lbs
- Must be able to carry 30 lbs
- Must be able to read
- Must be able to write
- Must be able to reason
- Must be able to talk
- Must be able to keyboard
- Must be able to drive
