Hospice Inpatient Unit CNA - All Shifts (Madison IPU)

Job Summary

Assist patients with activities of daily living including ambulation, toileting, bathing, dressing, oral care, and eating. Perform light housekeeping tasks such as changing linens, tidying rooms, and delivering food and supplies. Obtain vital signs, document care changes in the electronic health record, and reinforce patient and family education. Round on patients to anticipate needs and report significant condition changes or incidents to the Interdisciplinary Team. Participate in service planning meetings and precept new staff and students.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Graduation from an accredited Certified Nursing Assistant program
  • Current, unrestricted Nursing Assistant Certification in state of employment
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills
  • Experience using electronic health records
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality about patients, families, caregivers, staff, donors, and organizational intellectual property
  • Ability to use proper body mechanics, safe patient handling, and standard precautions

Desired Qualifications

  • One-year personal care experience, hospice, or home health, preferred
