Job Summary
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides personal care and supports hospice patients under the supervision of a registered nurse. Responsibilities include observing and documenting patient conditions, assisting with activities of daily living (baths, dressing, toileting, feeding, etc.), helping with ambulation and simple procedures, and participating as part of the interdisciplinary team to ensure quality, safe patient care. The role includes maintaining patient environments, complying with care procedures, attending in-service trainings and IDG/Case Conference meetings, and performing nursing-support tasks within scope of practice.
Required Qualifications
- Must have successfully completed a state-approved CNA training and competency evaluation program and listed in good standing in the state nurse registry
- At least 18 years of age
- Ability to read and follow written instructions and document care given
- Self-directing with ability to work with little direct supervision
- Empathy for the needs of the ill, injured, frail and the impaired
- Demonstrates tact, patience and good personal hygiene
- Licensed driver with automobile insured and in good working order
