Job Summary
Hospice CNA providing direct patient care across home, assisted living, or skilled nursing settings. Responsibilities include bathing, peri-care, dressing, assisting to toilet, incontinence care, repositioning, meal assistance, bedside documentation, charting in EMR, and coordinating visit times with patients or caregivers. Travel between patient visits with mileage reimbursed; training caregivers to provide personal care within scope. Collaboration with RN case managers to communicate status changes and patient/family concerns. Schedule is typically Monday to Friday, 8 AM–5 PM after orientation; caseload usually 5-7 patients per day, with 45–60 minutes per patient. Training and compliance requirements include in-service hours and regular competency assessments.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent and completion of CNA course
- Current certification with State Board of Nursing, or current registration with Department of Facilities Service in the State of North Carolina/ South Carolina
- No prior experience required; two years experience with hospice, home health or oncology preferred
- Must attend 12 hours of in-service training supervised by a Registered Nurse on a rolling 12-month basis
- Competency of the CNA is assessed in the home every 14 days
- Has not had a lapse of 24 consecutive months where the aide has not provided services for compensation
