Job Summary
The Hospice Chaplain provides spiritual care services to patients and families of Merced Hospice, Inc. Responsibilities include conducting spiritual assessments, facilitating individualized care plans, providing direct spiritual care, maintaining records for quality assurance, and consulting with interdisciplinary groups. The role involves networking with community spiritual counselors, coordinating educational efforts, and supervising volunteers. Candidates should have an accredited theological degree, ability to work in diverse settings, and knowledge of hospice care philosophy.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of accredited seminary or school of theology (BD, MDiv or equivalent theological degree) preferred
- Ability to work as member of interdisciplinary group
- Comfortable in an interfaith setting
- Ability to accept different lifestyles, cultures, beliefs, and values
- Ability to network with community clergy and congregations
- Knowledge of and commitment to hospice philosophy of care
- If making home visits, must be a licensed driver with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state and/or organization requirements and is in good working order
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working with death and dying, individuals/family/caregiver
- Hospice experience preferred
