Job Summary
Provide compassionate, comprehensive care to patients in hospice settings by assisting with activities of daily living, ensuring comfort, and offering emotional support to patients and families. Work under the supervision of registered nurses to deliver end-of-life care across patient homes and facilities. Maintain reliable personal transportation and adhere to strict safety protocols, including drug testing and HIPAA confidentiality. Complete required orientation, training, and continuing education while participating in community outreach and education activities.
Required Qualifications
- High School graduate or equivalent G.E.D.
- Current and unrestricted license in the State of Washington as a Certified Nursing Assistant
- Current CPR Certification with Basic Life Support (CPR/BLS) from an accredited provider
- Completion of Blood Born Pathogens Training
- Washington State Food Worker Card issued by the Department of Health
- Ability to lift, move, and assist patients up to 50lbs (or more with assistance)
- Comfortable with frequent travel between patient homes and facilities
- Strong communication skills to interact with patients, families, and interdisciplinary care teams
- Available to work evenings, nights, and weekends as part of the on-call rotation
- Available to work holidays
- Passing a pre-employment drug test, which includes cannabis testing in WA State
- Maintain reliable personal transportation
- Maintain a valid driver's license and vehicle insurance per state requirements
- Satisfy state and agency health requirements by providing proof of immunization, declinations, or approved accommodations as applicable
- Pass criminal background and drug screenings
- Read, write, speak, and understand English fluently
- Be available to work as assigned or scheduled
- Demonstrate support and adherence to the agency's Mission, Vision, and Values
- Maintain knowledge of and comply with agency policies, procedures, and practices
- Protect patient and agency information per HIPAA guidelines
- Complete agency and departmental orientation and required training programs
- Complete ongoing education, policy reviews, and training be designated deadlines
- Maintain current licensure(s) and certifications(s) required for the role
Desired Qualifications
- One year of CNA experience in hospice, home health, or long-term care settings
- Experience working with patients with chronic, terminal, or end-of-life care needs
- Bilingual in Spanish: Verified through ALTA staff testing
