Hospice Bereavement Coordinator

Job Summary

Coordinate the assessment and delivery of grief counseling needs and services to family caregivers, including one-to-one sessions, groups, and ongoing follow-up. Plan for Bereavement Program development, expansion, and refinement through annual service evaluation. Provide bereavement support to hospice personnel coping with work-related grief via one-to-one counseling, supervision of interns, and referrals to community resources. Deliver bereavement information and referral services to community callers while expanding and maintaining the community resource list. Assist in evaluating and planning services to meet hospice personnel support needs, such as yearly retreats and weekly support groups. Participate in in-service education, personnel meetings, and relevant committees. Requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field, experience with families/caregivers through death/dying issues, strong communication skills, and a valid driver's license. No on-call responsibilities.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience/education in grief or loss counseling
  • Experience with families/caregivers and patients through death/dying issues
  • Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Understanding of grief response and experience with counseling individuals and/or in groups regarding loss
  • Valid driver's license
  • Proof of insurance
