Job Summary
Hospice Aide under RN supervision responsible for observing and documenting patient care, and performing a broad range of personal care and comfort measures. Duties include assisting with bathing, dressing, meals and feeding, transfers and range-of-motion activities, monitoring vital signs as ordered, maintaining patient hygiene and safety, reporting significant changes to the Case Manager, supporting patient and family communication, and participating in quality assessment and care-provision activities. Requires active STNA/CNA certification, training hours, 18+ years old, CPR certification, and a valid driver's license; emphasizes compassionate, dignified end-of-life care and adherence to care procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Active STNA or CNA certification in the state performing job duties
- Meets the training requirements of the State
- Completed a minimum of 75 hours of classroom and supervised practical training (16 hours of classroom before 16 hours of practical)
- At least 18 years of age
- Ability to read and follow written instructions and document care
- Comfortable providing specialized care to the terminally ill
- Satisfactory references from previous employers
- Self-directed with the ability to work with little direct supervision
- Empathy for the needs of the ill and impaired
- Current CPR certification
- Licensed driver with insured automobile in good working order
- Complete probationary period to ensure competence
