Job Summary
Conduct instruction in riding disciplines from basic to advanced techniques while coaching and managing the Culver polo teams. Manage tack and equipment inventory, assist with stable management, and train both unbroken and trained horses. Identify lameness and injuries, provide basic veterinary treatments, and ensure adherence to safety procedures for handling large animals. Participate in various clubs, coach athletic teams, and perform student supervisory and chaperone duties as assigned. This 12-month role supports both the Boarding school and Summer School/Camps, requiring a bachelor's degree and at least 10 years of equine instruction and polo training experience at United States Polo Association level.
Required Qualifications
- Must be able to work within a small team to achieve the outputs
- A bachelor's degree in a relevant field
- At least 10 years of experience in all phases of equine instruction and polo training and competitions at United State Polo Association level
- Solid understanding of the game of polo, to include strategy and rules
- Capable trainer with the ability to train unbroken horses and maintain trained horses as they develop
- Solid understanding of the safety procedures that are required to handle and train large animals
- Ability to identify lameness and injuries in horses
- Ability to provide some veterinary treatments to the horses
