Job Summary
Operate AT horizontal directional drilling rigs up to 100k lbs in rock and native ground conditions, managing large diameter bores up to 28" using wireline locating tooling and mud reclaimers. Safely run directional drill, backhoe, excavator, skid steer, and crane truck support equipment on job sites. Maintain bore schedules for on-time completion, handle site set-up and restoration, and load/unload tools and materials. Participate in new site Job Safety Analysis and establish safety perimeters with signage and barriers. Requires valid Class A CDL with tanker endorsement, minimum three years of heavy support equipment operation, and prior HDD construction experience. Schedule includes potential overtime, after-hours, weekends, and on-call availability.
Required Qualifications

- Mud Reclaimer
- Drill Operator - Must be experienced and proficient with drilling equipment and understand their capabilities and limitations
- AT experience required
- Must be experienced and proficient with walk-over locating systems including TK, DCI & Magnetics
- Ability to locate grade bores a plus
- Experience with drill set up and project design processes
- Ability to read and understand bore profiles, HDD submittals & calculations, work orders, safety rules and operating instructions
- Basic ability to use small tools/hand tools
- Must have good troubleshooting and critical thinking skills
- Must be very safety conscientious
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's license required
- with tanker endorsement a plus
- Must be willing to travel
- Previous HDD construction experience required
- Minimum (3) years of operating various types of heavy support equipment
- Heavy support equipment is defined as: Backhoes, Excavators, Loaders, Skid Steers, Vacuum Equipment, Crane Trucks
- Minimum (3) years of operating or locating on various types of horizontal directional drilling equipment; Ditch Witch, Vermeer, American Auger, TK, DCI, Magnetics
- Must be knowledgeable drilling in various soil conditions and mixing drill mud conducive to those conditions
- MUST BE ABLE TO PASS A PRE-EMPLOYMENT DRUG TEST
