Job Summary
Operate directional drilling equipment to install conduit, vaults, and underground infrastructure while verifying nearby utilities are exposed prior to drilling. Conduct daily equipment inspections, setup drills based on ground conditions, and perform potholing and site cleanup using a hydro-vac. Safely operate a pickup truck towing a trailer and perform basic maintenance on directional drills. Read project prints, follow safety protocols, and maintain a clean work area. This role requires lifting up to 75 lbs, working in various weather conditions, and potential out-of-state travel and on-call status. Compensation ranges from $23.00/hr to $32.00/hr.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2-5 years of proven experience operating a Horizontal Directional Drill (HDD)/locating
- 2-5 years of directional drill locating experience
- Valid driver's license
- Acceptable driving record
- Ability to maintain insurability under the company's auto policy
- Strong understanding of directional drilling techniques and utility installation
- Strong ability to perform basic maintenance on directional drills
- Ability to read and interpret project prints
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail
- Ability to perform physical labor
- Ability to lift up to 75lbs
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to work in the following environments: Outside. Hot, cold, rain, snow
- Ability to travel out of state when required
- Ability to be on call
Desired Qualifications
