Job Summary
Temp, full-time Peer Advocate role for Depaul's Homeless Health Peer Advocacy programme. The advocate accompanies service users to health appointments (gp, hospital, dental, mental health and others), supports navigation of the healthcare system, and advocates to ensure treatment needs are met. The role emphasizes building service users' confidence to access healthcare independently, working with individuals with co-morbidities (mental health, addictions, domestic violence, cognitive impairments, forensic history), and participating in risk assessments, data protection, and IT-driven record-keeping. Responsibilities include attending appointments with clients, providing clear handovers to key workers, facilitating health promotion groups, engaging with lived experience groups, supporting research and evaluation, and representing Depaul values. Requirements include lived experience of homelessness or related supports, willingness to travel to various counties in Ireland, strong written/verbal communication, basic IT skills, reliability, and adherence to confidentiality and safeguarding policies. Availability Monday–Friday, 8:30–18:00 with a driving license and car access; subject to Access NI and NISCC checks; inclusive, equality-focused environment with supervision and ongoing training. Required Qualifications
- 1 year paid relevant work experience or 2 years relevant volunteering experience
- Must have access to a car and a full, clean driving license
- Access NI check (Enhanced)
- NISCC registration (if applicable)
