Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive assessments and initial home visits to evaluate prospective foster and adoptive families against New York State and agency regulations. Facilitate the National Training and Development Curriculum and LGBTQ trainings while assisting with foster home reauthorization and orientation sessions. Execute the screening and investigative process for applicants, ensuring all forms are completed and submitted timely. Generate community enthusiasm by attending recruitment events, leveraging media contacts, and following up with inquiries within 24 to 48 hours. Requires full-time, 35-hour hybrid schedule with routine travel in Suffolk and Nassau counties, including weekend and evening availability.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or related field from an accredited college or university
- Minimum of two years' experience in the field of child welfare
- At least one year experience in Homefinding/foster care and/or adoption
- Ability to work as a team-player
- Skills in identifying and building a network of community relationships
- Ability and skill to speak in public; to inspire, encourage and motivate others to become foster/adoptive parents
- Ability to accommodate flexible work schedule, including evenings and weekends
- Ability to travel in and around the Long Island region
- Fluency in Spanish
