Job Summary
Home Support Worker provides basic supportive care as part of the healthcare team under supervision, assisting with housekeeping, laundry, and meal preparation. Requires minimum Grade 10 education, a Manitoba Class 5 driver’s license or willingness to travel, and the ability to work shifts including days and evenings. Must be able to perform physical tasks (standing, transferring, transporting patients/equipment 10-20 kg) and communicate effectively in English; French language skills may be required. Training in PHIA, WHMIS, and universal precautions will be provided; Indigenous customs knowledge is preferred. May be required to travel between clients’ homes and possibly use a vehicle. The role is in-person with Winnipeg Regional Health Authority Community Health Services in Winnipeg.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum Grade 10 education, Manitoba standards, required.
- Valid Manitoba Class 5 driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle, and/or willingness to travel year-round.
- Food Handler’s Certificate may be required.
- Current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment.
- PHIA training, WHMIS and Principles of Routine Practices (Universal Precautions) understanding.
- Ability to work shift work and weekends.
- Ability to stand, transfer and transport patients/equipment (10-20 kg).
- Effective English verbal and written communication; may require French reading/writing.
