Job Summary
Home Medical Equipment Coordinator responsible for intake, coordination, and timely implementation of HME orders; liaises with referral sources, providers, patients, and internal service lines; verifies medical necessity, ensures accurate documentation, and maintains clear communication throughout the order process. Manages patient orders from start to finish, reviews referrals, coordinates deliveries, provides patient education, and conducts one-on-one equipment set-ups or fittings. In Field/Delivery roles, delivers HME products to customers. Performs order processing, triage communications, coordinates EMR data entry and insurance/self-pay verification, supports discharges and transitions of care, ensures equipment is aligned with physician orders, and maintains compliance with Medicare/Medicaid and privacy regulations. Requires strong customer service, problem solving, and cross-department collaboration to ensure timely and accurate delivery of equipment.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in a customer service role
- Ability to work independently with accountability and sound judgment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and reliability
- Organizational and time-management skills
- Proficiency with basic computer applications (word processing, spreadsheets, databases, internet, email, scheduling tools)
- Ability to understand and speak English clearly and communicate with patients and team members
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work collaboratively in a team
- Current driver’s license and reliable transportation for Field/Delivery Positions (if applicable)
