Job Summary
The Occupational Therapy Assistant provides 1:1 home-based occupational therapy services under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist, delivering maintenance programs, demonstrating home-therapy activities to clients, reinforcing home programs to families/caregivers, maintaining clinical documentation, and participating in case conferences and team discussions. The role requires driving to client homes across Owatonna and surrounding areas, adherence to privacy policies, and collaboration with staff to support client progress while following the Plan of Care and company policies.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of a two (2) year COTA college program that leads to an associate degree and has been approved by the American Occupational Therapy Association
- Currently licensed Occupational Therapy Assistant in the state of Minnesota with license in good standing
- At least two (2) years experience in a health care setting or equivalent; home care experience preferred
- Strong interpersonal communication and teaching skills
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Access to a dependable vehicle or public transportation to travel to multiple company business stops per day
- Valid driver’s license and proof of car insurance when using a personal vehicle for company business
- Proof of negative Mantoux or documentation of negative chest x-ray
- Current CPR certification recommended
- U.S. Citizenship or evidence of valid Alien Work Permit
- Disclosure of any conviction or criminal history pertaining to health services; candidate with such convictions will not be hired
- Passing initial and ongoing background checks including Minnesota Department of Health and OIG List of Excluded Individuals and Entities
