Job Summary
Hospice Aide/Homemaker provides personal care and observes patients under RN supervision to promote comfort and safety. Responsibilities include assisting with baths, grooming, feeding, dressing, mobility, and monitoring vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure) when ordered, reporting changes to the RN Case Manager, and documenting care performed. Duties also encompass maintaining a clean living area, assisting with basic household tasks for terminally ill patients, and participating in quality improvement activities. The role supports on-site patient care with 12-hour shifts and may include holiday coverage. Requires High School Diploma or equivalent and completion of a recognized Nursing Assistant training program; current Louisiana Driver's License, CPR certification, and ability to read and follow directions; proficiency with mobile documentation; and empathy toward patients and families.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a recognized Nursing Assistant training program
- One (1) year of full-time experience in a hospital or nursing facility preferred; Hospice experience preferred
- Possesses current Louisiana Driver's License, Automobile Liability Coverage and CPR cert.
- Good physical stamina, mental health and personal hygiene habits
- Presents pre-employment medical clearance, including TB and background screening
- Ability to read, follow directions, work independently, and operate mobile documentation device
