Job Summary
Home Health Aide provides personal care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Therapist, including complex transfers, special diet preparation, simple non-sterile dressings, monitoring vital signs, and recording intake and output. Requires completion of state-approved training, HIV/ADRD training, and CPR/First Aid where required, with emphasis on reading/writing English, empathetic patient care, and physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Eligible paths include CNA certification, AHCA competency exam, or nursing school graduation with licensure/board eligibility in Florida.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred
- Completion of agency qualifying exam
- Proof of at least 40 hours of training as per Florida Statute 400.497(1)
- Be a CNA or have CNA certificate and AHCA competency exam or graduate from accredited nursing school and willing to take board exams in Florida
- Must have current HIV training and ADRD training
- Current CPR/First Aid certification if state or program requirement
- Ability to read and write English
- Ability to lift/push/pull/carry minimum of 50 lbs
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, reach and perform safety precautions
- Empathetic attitude toward care and treatment of patients/clients
