Job Summary
As a Home Furnishings Consultant, you will guide customers through showroom selections of furniture and home decor, applying basic selling skills to create a low-pressure, high-value shopping experience. The role emphasizes customer-first service, product knowledge, teamwork across departments, and leveraging technology (tablets/iPads/STORIS) to facilitate sales. You’ll participate in comprehensive training with guaranteed pay during ramp-up and have the potential to earn substantial commissions through a high-earning pay structure, while supporting AFW’s mission and standards.
Required Qualifications
- Willingness to learn about the industry, the products, and the customers
- Maintain a professional appearance and follow dress guidelines
- Attend daily meetings and required training
- Have a flexible schedule and work all shifts, which include weekends, evenings, and holidays
- Follow AFW Code of Conduct
- Assist in showroom maintenance (daily cleaning, vacuuming, tagging)
- Adhere to asset protection policies
- Coordinate with multiple departments to improve processes and customer service
- Learn and apply new technologies (tablets, iPads, basic computer knowledge)
- Demonstrate a customer-first mindset and ensure great shopping experiences
- Speak knowledgeably about styles, fit, fabrics, price, trends
- Meet high customer expectations
- Strong follow-up and time-management skills
- Ability to navigate multiple computer systems and POS software (STORIS)
- High School Diploma preferred; two-year Business or Design degree preferred
- Physical ability to maneuver in showroom and perform tasks for extended periods
