Job Summary
Develop and implement engaging curriculum and lesson plans covering cooking, nutrition, sewing, and household management. Teach practical skills while incorporating local Nigerian culture and cuisine into the curriculum. Organize and supervise practical sessions in cooking and sewing labs, and teach financial literacy and budgeting concepts. Manage classroom activities, assess student progress, and provide constructive feedback. Collaborate with staff, participate in parent-teacher conferences, and stay updated on current trends in home economics education.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Education or related field
- Valid teaching certification or license
- Proven teaching experience in home economics or related subjects
- Strong knowledge of curriculum development and lesson planning
- Excellent cooking and nutrition skills
- Proficiency in sewing and textile work
- Ability to teach budgeting and financial literacy concepts
- Exceptional classroom management and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Familiarity with the educational system in Nigeria
- Knowledge of Nigerian culture, cuisine, and local family structures
