Job Summary
Oversee Nourishing Hope’s Home Delivery, In-Person Markets, and Online Market food distribution programs, ensuring a dignified neighbor experience. Responsibilities include supervising staff and volunteers, managing operations and logistics, providing financial oversight and data tracking/reporting, ensuring food safety and sanitation, maintaining SOP adherence, and serving as a liaison to neighbors, volunteers, staff, and external partners. Requires a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) with at least two years in social services/food distribution or grocery environments and staff supervision; valid driver’s license; strong technology skills (MS Office, Google Suite, Salesforce); commitment to food security and understanding of barriers faced by neighbors. Willingness to work a flexible schedule including nights; onsite with some remote work; located at The Hub, Chicago, IL with occasional on-site needs. Salary related benefits listed with salary range $54,000-$60,000 based on experience.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, Master’s degree preferred
- Two years of experience in social services, food service/distribution, or grocery/retail environments, including at least one year of staff management
- Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and ability to drive a van
- Strong technology skills including Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite
- Ability to use and maintain Salesforce CRM data quality
- An understanding of, and belief in, the importance of food security for everyone
- Familiarity with barriers experienced by neighbors experiencing food insecurity (homelessness, mental/physical health, disability, substance use, aging-related barriers)
- Ability to obtain and maintain food service sanitation certification in accordance with municipal and state laws
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills in person, over the phone, remotely, and in writing
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team, including willingness to provide staff coverage
- Ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions
- A high level of professionalism, attention to detail, and a high degree of accuracy
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights
- Bilingual (Spanish)
- Previous experience in nonprofit or hunger relief sectors (Highly Preferred)
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices (Highly Preferred)
- Experience in Non-violent Crisis Intervention techniques (Highly Preferred)
