Job Summary
Conduct speech-language pathology and dysphasia services in the home, including evaluations, oral motor exercises, and aural rehab. Establish treatment plans with patients, families, and physicians, then modify them based on progress. Perform specialized assessments such as dysphasia exams and oral motor evaluations using appropriate tools. Arrange for external specialized testing when needed and recommend adaptive equipment or home modifications to maximize patient safety. Communicate regularly with supervisors, the healthcare team, and insurance case managers regarding patient status and care delivery. Supervise home health aides in patient care activities. Maintain effective relationships with other departments and participate in multidisciplinary quality improvement teams.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from an ACOTE-accredited educational program in Occupational Therapy recognized by the Board of OT
- 1-2 years clinical experience
- Registered License to practice Occupational Therapy in the District of Columbia, Maryland, or Virginia or any combination based on work location(s)
- CPR (Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation)
- Valid State Driver's License in good standing with a dependable vehicle for transportation
