Job Summary
The Home Care Assistant - On Call provides support and ensures the safety and well-being of clients during evenings, nights, and weekends. Responsibilities include handling phone calls/messages promptly, adjusting schedules for client coverage, notifying clients of schedule changes, and problem-solving to meet client needs. Essential qualities include strong communication skills, patience, and the ability to work with elderly and cognitively impaired individuals. Proficiency in computer operations and record-keeping of on-call activities is required.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
Desired Qualifications
- 1-3 Years’ personal care/home care experience preferred
- May be a Certified Nursing Assistant; however, not required for this position
- Basic proficiency in computer operations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with clients/clients, supervisors and co-workers using understandable language skills in reading, writing and speaking in person and on the phone
- Patience, sensitivity, kindness, and aptitude for working with elderly and/or cognitively impaired individuals
- Demonstrates flexibility in adjusting to clients/client’s specific needs and situations
