HLS Software Systems Engineer III

Job Summary

Define system autonomy behaviors and software requirements by collaborating with systems engineers, developers, and program managers. Lead team members on software systems engineering best practices while setting direction for requirements, verification events, and test cases. Manage hardware-software integration problems across vehicle and mission design teams to ensure safe, repeatable spaceflight. Deeply understand the safety-critical software development process to capture proper software behavior. Work within the Lunar Permanence business unit developing Blue Moon lander product lines for crew and cargo transport to the lunar surface.

Required Qualifications

  • B.S. or higher degree in computer science, computer engineering, aerospace engineering, or related field or equivalent experience
  • 5 years professional experience minimum
  • Experience in developing software requirements, verification plans, and test cases
  • Experience working across systems and software disciplines, leading cross functional groups
  • Experience in spacecraft design and operations
  • Experience with fault management design
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
  • Passion for our mission and vision is required
  • Must be able to earn and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential

  • Experience reviewing software architecture, design, and code
  • Experience developing test scripts and verification analysis reports
  • Experience with System Safety Assessments and reviewing safety artifacts
  • Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
  • Experience with Agile methodologies
  • Aerospace Industry experience with safety critical software and/or tools qualification activities
  • Experience with NPR 7150.2D
  • Experience with compiled languages, C/C++
  • Experience with scripting languages, Python/JavaScript
