Job Summary
Histotechnologist responsible for routine histology procedures including embedding, sectioning, staining, and quality control to prepare slides for microscopic review by pathologists; communicates with pathologists and coordinators; operates tissue processors and automated/instrumentation for staining and coverslipping; performs gross examination and contributes to quality investigations; adheres to SOPs, regulatory standards, and safety practices; participates in training and teaching of staff; supports CAP/QA and documentation in LIS; works a full-time night shift in the Northwestern Medicine pathology lab.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in the biological, physical, chemical, life sciences, medical laboratory technology, or histology
- HTL (ASCP) certification or HTL (ASCP) eligible; must take and pass within one year if eligible
