Job Summary
Evaluate and solve problems related to surgical specimen collection and processing. Process, prepare, and stain Cytology specimens to enable pathologist diagnosis. Develop, test, implement, and select new techniques, procedures, instruments, and methods based on laboratory resources. Perform quality control and identify quality improvement initiatives to ensure optimum laboratory operation. Utilize a microtome to section paraffin blocks and produce high-quality slides for routine, special staining, and immunohistochemistry. This role requires 4 years of combined bench and management experience with Histotechnician or Histotechnologist certification. Full-time day shift, Monday through Friday, 6am to 2:30pm.
Required Qualifications
- 60 semester hours or equivalent from an accredited institution that, at a minimum, includes either 24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology courses or 24 semester hours of science courses that include six semester hours of chemistry, six semester hours of biology and 12 semester hours of chemistry, biology or medical laboratory technology in any combination
- 4 years with combined bench, lead and management experience
- 1 year of management experience
- Histotechnician (HT), Or Histotechnologist (HTL ASCP) certification
