Job Summary
Histotechnologist I performs skilled histology tasks including sectioning and hematoxylin & eosin staining under supervision, macro-dissection, QC checks, and adherence to SOPs to ensure timely, high-quality specimen processing. Responsibilities include equipment maintenance, interdepartmental communication with pathologists and external customers, assisting in process improvements, developing SOPs, supporting R&D sample workflows, and contributing to regulatory preparation. Requires an Associate Degree and 2+ years histology experience; ASCP HT/HTL certification is preferred. The role operates on a Tuesday-Saturday, 12pm-8:30pm shift with training Monday-Friday, located in Redwood City, CA, and may require travel between Redwood City locations. Continuous attention to quality, ability to work independently and within a team, strong communication, and compliance with safety and PPE policies are essential.
Required Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Histology or related field
- 2+ years of experience in a histology laboratory with competency in microtomy/cutting, embedding, and routine staining
- ASCP board certification (HT/HTL) preferred
- Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship
