Job Summary
Prepare tissue specimens for microscopic examination by performing fixation, processing, embedding, sectioning, and staining. Execute routine and special staining procedures, assist with immunohistochemistry, and ensure proper specimen identification and tracking. Operate and maintain histology equipment while adhering to laboratory policies, safety guidelines, and infection control practices. Maintain documentation logs in compliance with regulatory standards and participate in quality assurance activities. Manage workflow to meet turnaround time expectations and prioritize urgent specimens. Collaborate with pathologists and laboratory staff to support patient care.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree in biological, chemical, or clinical laboratory science
- at least two years histotechnology on the job training
- completion of a histotechnology program
Desired Qualifications
- HT/ASCP Certification
- one year hospital laboratory work experience
