Job Summary
Process FFPE specimens for microscopic evaluation by performing sectioning with a microtome, mounting slides, and executing routine staining and coverslipping. Generate digital images for pathologist review and conduct manual and automated macrodissection while operating and maintaining laboratory instruments. Adhere to safety policies, document specimen data in Laboratory Information Management Systems, and maintain clean work areas to meet turnaround time goals. Report issues to the supervisor for timely resolution. This role supports Personalis's molecular diagnostics test offerings, enabling early detection of minimal residual disease and recurrence through ultra-comprehensive genomic profiling.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree in chemical/physical/biological science or completion of a NAACLS-accredited Histotechnology program
- Minimum of 3+ years experience working in a high-volume histology laboratory performing microtomy of various tissue types, H&E staining, and tissue embedding
- Ability to communicate effectively with excellent interpersonal skills
- Physical demands include stooping, turning, bending, squatting, kneeling, and the ability to lift up to 25 lbs
- Tuesday - Saturday, 4:00pm - 12:30am
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a laboratory science curriculum
- HT or HTL certification from ASCP
- Experience working in IHC and digital imaging, tissue/tumor identification, and proficiency in reading pathology reports
