Job Summary
Process human tissue and body fluid specimens in preparation for microscopic exam by sectioning embedded tissue with a microtome and mounting sections on slides. Perform immunohistochemical tests on formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue and process mounted sections through routine and special staining procedures. Operate and maintain manual and automated instruments while documenting equipment maintenance, logs, and preventive quality control procedures. Report accurate and timely test results, document problems affecting performance, and perform corrective actions. Work Monday through Friday from 12:00pm to 8:30pm in Cincinnati, OH.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Histology or a High School diploma or equivalent with 1 or more years of histology experience
- Comfortability embedding both large and small specimens
- Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
- Experience working in a high volume laboratory environment
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Proficient with computers
- Familiarity with laboratory information systems
- High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
- Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
- Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
Desired Qualifications
- 3 months or more of histology experience
- 3 months or more of Immunohistochemistry experience
- Histology and/or ASCP certifications
