Job Summary
Perform identification of surgical and autopsy specimens, process samples through fixation and dehydration, and embed tissue for sectioning. Execute microtomy techniques to section embedded tissue, prepare coverslip slides, and conduct staining and immunohistochemical testing procedures. Maintain proficiency in reading safety manuals and communicating with pathologists while potentially orienting new staff. This role requires a New York State License and ASCP certification, with a base rate of $26.33 to $39.50 per hour. Located in Glens Falls, New York, the position offers a sign-on bonus for full-time and part-time employees.
Required Qualifications
- 2yr Associates in Science
- New York State License
- ASCP certified
- Ability to read and understand SOPS and departmental procedure and safety manuals
- Ability to understand communication with attending pathologist and or pathology assistant in both written and oral forms
- Ability to demonstrate effective problem solving and team building skills
