Job Summary
History teacher at a Catholic School educates students in a Christ-centered environment by guiding, inspiring, and teaching in alignment with the Archdiocese of San Antonio. Responsibilities include developing and implementing lesson plans aligned with the school’s curriculum and Texas Education Agency guidelines, employing accommodations for diverse learning styles, conducting ongoing assessments, planning instructional goals with staff, supervising teacher aides and volunteers, integrating technology into teaching, facilitating parent conferences, supporting extracurricular activities, maintaining classroom behavior and safety, and fostering professional growth while upholding the Code of Conduct and Faith and Moral Policy.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- 12 credit hours in education courses or a valid, appropriate state certificate (as outlined by the Texas Catholic Conference Education Department standards)
- Technology proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and internet use for educational purposes and multimedia presentations
- Demonstrated competency in the subject area(s)
- Must pass archdiocesan Safe Environment Requirements and background screening
- Must pass Texas DPS Fingerprint-based Applicant Clearinghouse screening
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Must be detail oriented, organized, self-motivated, work well independently and on a team
- Must have good written and verbal skills
- Willingness to work some weekends and nights
- Must work a minimum of a full school day
- Must have good critical thinking and problem-solving skills
