Job Summary
Historic Preservation Lead Planner: responsible for supporting historic preservation and land use planning projects, reviewing developments and demolitions for compliance with codes and policies, coordinating and staffing boards/committees, conducting historical research and evaluations, reviewing preservation reports, managing preservation projects, conducting community outreach, and assisting the public on zoning, land use, and preservation. Leads daily planning staff, reviews applications for preservation and special districts, ensures compliance with the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards and HPZ guidelines, writes reports and ordinances, coordinates with boards/commissions, engages with community input, and supports 106/36 CFR Part 61 compliance. Requires planning expertise, ability to supervise staff, and collaboration with multiple city and external partners; preferred qualifications include advanced degrees in related fields andExperience with historic design review and grants.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Three (3) years of relevant experience
- A valid and unrestricted driver’s license with two (2) years of licensed driving required
