Job Summary
Conduct real time technical support for pathologists by performing specimen quality assessments, measurements, and data stewardship to ensure testing continuity. Maintain proper documentation through appropriate specimen handling, labeling, quality control measures, and routine scanning of stained slides with digital scanners. Perform routine laboratory equipment maintenance and assist in attributing and debulking clinical and research study patient specimens while strictly adhering to Standard Operating Procedures and Good Documentation Practices. Escalate specimen and data inquiries as required and follow FMI's attendance policies. Work within a CLIA or CAP-Certified laboratory environment, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and safety protocols regarding chemicals and reagents.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (General Education Degree)
- 3 years of experience in logistics, science, technology or another regulated field
- Associates Degree in biological, life, or laboratory sciences
- 2 years of experience in logistics, science, technology or another regulated field
- Bachelor's degree in biological or life sciences

- Bachelor's Degree in biological or life sciences
- Handling and communicating important information, particularly scientific or technical information
- Closely following verbal and written instructions and operation procedures
- Working within a CLIA or CAP-Certified laboratory
- Familiarity with Anatomy and Physiology, Cancer Biology, Human Biology and/or medical terminology
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Familiarity with Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
- Strong interpersonal skills, including written and oral communication, collaboration, and problem solving
- Ability to maintain a professional demeanor with other departments and colleagues
- History of demonstrated ability to work independently and work in teams
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask
- Ability to follow written and verbal instruction, particularly with scientific or technical information
- Ability to work in a laboratory environment, in the presence of chemicals and reagents
- Understanding of HIPAA and importance of privacy of patient data
